In the spring of 1954, the Houston Area Missions Committee, in conjunction with the Texas District Missions Board, selected the west Spring Branch area as a most promising site for a new Lutheran mission. A beautiful five-acre wooded tract at Long Point and Witte Roads was chosen as an ideal location and was purchased by the district.
The church grew rapidly, and on November 22, 1955, the congregation was officially organized with a charter membership of sixty-four souls, thirty-six of whom were communicants. The name St. Andrew Lutheran Church was chosen.
The real history of the church, however, is written in the lives of the people who have served their Lord through this congregation and have been blessed by their service.
Our Story
We Believe in Faith Alone, Grace Alone, and Scripture Alone
We believe that every one of us has fallen short and is in need of a Savior. There’s nothing we can do to fix our condition on our own but we believe Jesus has done something about it.
Because of His great love, Jesus came, lived, and died for our sins, offering us the priceless gift of forgiveness. This gift is not something we can earn through good works, effort, or knowledge, it is freely given and received through faith, by the work of the Holy Spirit in our lives.
We also believe that God has revealed this truth to us through Scripture. The Bible is the ultimate guide for our faith, shaping how we live, love, and follow Jesus every day.
Faith. Grace. Scripture. These are the heart of who we are.
Our Values
We Are a Family
At St. Andrew Lutheran Church, we are more than a congregation, we are a family. This family atmosphere comes through the work of our hands, hearts, and the blessing of the Lord. Grateful for His love in Jesus Christ, we invite you to experience fellowship, encouragement, and care among His people.
We Are Called to Share
We strive to proclaim the deeds of our King, so that men and women, boys and girls may find peace, joy, and hope in Him. Every word, every action, and every gathering is rooted in sharing His love.
We Are Committed to Faith and Fellowship
Our goal is to comfort, strengthen, and encourage one another in faith. We work together to grow spiritually, serve faithfully, and support each other in the journey of Christian living.
We are Lutheran.
We are proud to be part of the Lutheran Church–Missouri Synod (LCMS), faithfully following the Confessions of the Lutheran Church. To learn more about the LCMS and its mission, visit LCMS.org.
